Barros & Errazuriz is expanding its banking practice with a mid-level associate based in Valparaiso, Chile's historic port city and seat of the Congreso Nacional. The role involves advising banks, cooperativas de ahorro y credito, and fintech companies on regulatory compliance, lending transactions, and financial consumer protection under the Ley General de Bancos and CMF normativa.

Valparaiso's proximity to Vina del Mar and the central coastal region's growing fintech ecosystem (centred around Valparaiso's startup hub) creates unique opportunities. The associate will also support the Santiago office on major banking transactions and securitisation mandates.

• Advising banks and financial institutions on regulatory compliance with CMF normativa
• Drafting lending agreements, security documentation, and guarantee instruments
• Advising fintech companies on Ley 21.521 registration and regulatory requirements
• Conducting regulatory due diligence for banking M&A transactions
• Supporting financial consumer protection compliance and Sernac financial proceedings

• Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas and juramento ante la Corte Suprema
• 3-6 years of experience in banking, financial regulation, or fintech law
• Knowledge of the Ley General de Bancos (DFL 3 de 1997), Ley 21.521 (Ley Fintech), and CMF circulares
• Experience with lending documentation, consumer credit, and financial product regulation
• English proficiency for cross-border banking mandates
