Job Description
Barros & Errazuriz seeks a Senior Energy & Projects lawyer for its Santiago office on Isidora Goyenechea. Chile's ambitious energy transition — targeting 70% renewable electricity by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050 — creates exceptional legal demand. The role covers renewable energy PPAs, conventional power contracts, hydrogen project development, and regulatory matters before the Comision Nacional de Energia (CNE) and the Coordinador Electrico Nacional (CEN).
The successful candidate will work on landmark solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects in Chile's Atacama, Antofagasta, and Magallanes regions, alongside traditional mining energy supply mandates. Deep knowledge of the Ley General de Servicios Electricos (DFL 4 de 2006) and the electricity concession regime is essential.
Responsibilities
- Advising on renewable energy project development including PPAs, EPC contracts, and financing structures
- Managing regulatory filings with the CNE, SEC (Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles), and SEA
- Structuring and negotiating project finance documentation for energy projects
- Leading due diligence on energy assets for M&A transactions
- Advising on the Chilean green hydrogen regulatory framework and CORFO incentive programmes
Requirements
- Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas and juramento ante la Corte Suprema
- 7-11 years of experience in energy, project finance, or infrastructure law
- Expertise in DFL 4 de 2006, CNE regulations, and the Chilean electricity market framework
- Experience with renewable energy PPAs, PMGD/PMG regulations, and concession agreements
- Understanding of Chile's green hydrogen strategy and Ley de Eficiencia Energetica
- Fluent English for international energy company clients
