Job Description
Gómez-Pinzón's Energy & Natural Resources practice, ranked Band 1 by Chambers, seeks a senior lawyer to advise on conventional and renewable energy projects across Colombia. The role covers upstream oil and gas contracts, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and regulatory matters before the Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas (CREG) and the Unidad de Planeación Minero-Energética (UPME).
Colombia's energy transition presents significant opportunities, and the successful candidate will work on landmark solar, wind, and hydrogen projects alongside traditional hydrocarbon mandates. The position is based at the firm's Calle 67 office in Bogotá's Chapinero Alto neighbourhood.
Responsibilities
- Advising on upstream oil and gas exploration and production contracts with ANH
- Structuring and negotiating power purchase agreements for renewable energy projects
- Managing regulatory filings with CREG, UPME, and ANLA for energy projects
- Leading due diligence on energy assets for M&A transactions
- Advising on carbon credit frameworks and environmental compliance under Colombian law
Requirements
- Título de Abogado and active Tarjeta Profesional
- 7-11 years of experience in energy, oil & gas, or environmental law
- Expertise in CREG, UPME, and ANH regulatory frameworks
- Experience with renewable energy PPAs, concession agreements, and environmental licensing
- Understanding of Colombia's energy transition roadmap and Ley 2099 de 2021
- Fluent English for international energy company clients
