Associate — Banking & Finance

Hoet Peláez Castillo & Duque seeks an Associate for its Banking & Finance practice in Caracas. You will advise Venezuelan and international financial institutions on lending transactions, regulatory compliance, and structured finance products under SUDEBAN and BCV regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, and guarantee instruments under Venezuelan law
• Advise on compliance with SUDEBAN (Superintendencia de las Instituciones del Sector Bancario) regulations and BCV monetary policy directives
• Structure secured transactions including pledges (prenda), mortgages (hipoteca), and fiduciary assignments
• Advise on foreign exchange regulations and currency controls administered by the BCV
• Conduct due diligence on Venezuelan banking and financial institutions

• Execute lending transactions for domestic and international banks
• Prepare legal opinions on Venezuelan security interests
• Monitor regulatory changes from SUDEBAN and BCV
• Support the team on structured finance and capital markets matters

• Law degree (Abogado) from a Venezuelan university
• Registered with the Inpreabogado
• 3-5 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Strong knowledge of the Banking Sector Institutions Law (Ley de Instituciones del Sector Bancario) and BCV regulations
