Associate – Competition Law at Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak (SK&S)
SK&S, a leading Polish full-service law firm with offices on ul. Jasna in Warsaw's historic Śródmieście Północne, is looking for an Associate to strengthen our Competition Law practice. SK&S has been at the forefront of Polish antitrust law since the firm's founding and maintains close working relationships with the Urząd Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentów (UOKiK).
About the Role
You will advise clients on all aspects of Polish and EU competition law, including merger control filings with UOKiK and the European Commission, antitrust compliance programmes, and state aid matters. The role requires thorough knowledge of the Ustawa o ochronie konkurencji i konsumentów (Competition and Consumer Protection Act) and EU Regulation 139/2004.
You will also handle dawn raid preparedness, represent clients in UOKiK proceedings, and support litigation before the Sąd Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentów (SOKiK) — Poland's specialised competition court — and on appeal before the Sąd Apelacyjny w Warszawie.
Responsibilities
- Draft and file merger control notifications with UOKiK and the European Commission
- Advise clients on antitrust compliance, including vertical and horizontal agreements
- Prepare dawn raid manuals and conduct antitrust compliance training for clients
- Represent clients in UOKiK antitrust proceedings and before SOKiK
- Analyse state aid issues under EU rules and the Polish State Aid Act
- Research and monitor legislative and case law developments in Polish and EU competition law
Requirements
- Qualified as adwokat or radca prawny, or in the final year of aplikacja
- 3-5 years of experience in competition/antitrust law at a recognised firm
- Strong knowledge of the Ustawa o ochronie konkurencji i konsumentów and TFEU Articles 101-102
- Experience with merger control notifications (UOKiK and/or EC) and antitrust investigations
- Familiarity with SOKiK and Sąd Apelacyjny proceedings in competition matters
- Fluent Polish and English (written and spoken)
- Magister prawa from a top Polish university (UW, UJ, or equivalent)
