Job Description
Allens' Melbourne office at 101 Collins Street is seeking an Associate for its Tax practice. Leveraging the Linklaters alliance for cross-border structuring, you will advise on Australian income tax, GST, stamp duty, and international tax matters for corporations, financial institutions, and infrastructure funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on M&A tax structuring, due diligence, and tax indemnities
- Handle ATO private rulings, disputes, and audits under the Tax Administration Act 1953
- Advise on Part IVA (general anti-avoidance) risks and transfer pricing (Div 815)
- Draft tax opinions on franking credits, CGT rollovers, and consolidated group restructures
Requirements
- Admitted as a solicitor in Victoria; 3-5 years PQE in tax (law firm or ATO)
- Strong knowledge of ITAA 1936/1997, Tax Administration Act, and GST Act
- Experience with ATO audits or private rulings processes preferred
- CA or CTA qualification advantageous
