Job Description
The Bank of Canada is seeking a Policy Analyst for its Legal Division at 234 Wellington Street, Ottawa. This role supports the Bank's legislative and regulatory policy work, including analysis of proposed amendments to the Bank of Canada Act and financial market infrastructure legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze proposed legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Bank of Canada and Canada's financial system
- Prepare policy briefs and legal memoranda for senior management and the Governing Council
- Support consultations with the Department of Finance, OSFI, and provincial securities regulators
- Conduct comparative legal research on central banking legislation across G7 jurisdictions
- Assist with access to information and privacy requests under the Access to Information Act
Requirements
- JD/LLB or graduate degree in law, public policy, or economics
- 0-3 years experience in legal policy, government, or financial regulation
- Bilingual (English/French) required
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of Canadian financial regulatory framework an asset
