Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent and two years of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the position's duties. Education above the high school level may be substituted for required general experience on a year for year basis. Two years of specialized experience. Specialized experience is progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry or report generation. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with judges, counsel, and other court staff. Excellent customer service skills. Proficient in use of personal computer, electronic mail, and other software applications. Proficient in typing and use of word processing software. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and respond to multiple demands and strict deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to think logically and solve problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information, and use sound ethics and judgement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field closely related to the subject matter of the position. Prior courtroom experience and use of courtroom technology. Experience in using the federal court's electronic case management system CM/ECF.
