Job Description

Patton Moreno & Asvat is hiring a trade compliance attorney focused on the Colón Free Zone (Zona Libre de Colón), the largest free trade zone in the Western Hemisphere. You will advise importers, exporters, and logistics companies on customs regulations, re-export procedures, and free zone licensing.

Responsibilities

Advise Colón Free Zone operators on licensing, permits, and regulatory compliance. Draft and review international trade contracts and distribution agreements. Handle customs disputes and appeals before the Autoridad Nacional de Aduanas. Provide guidance on sanctions screening and trade controls. Support clients with re-export documentation and free zone incentives.

Requirements

Licenciatura en Derecho. Colegio Nacional de Abogados membership. 3-5 years in trade, customs, or free zone law. Knowledge of the Ley de la Zona Libre de Colón and Autoridad Nacional de Aduanas regulations. Bilingual Spanish/English; Mandarin or Arabic a plus.
