MNTN is seeking a business-focused Commercial Counsel to support the company’s continued growth. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner to the business, driving commercial success while thoughtfully managing risk across a range of initiatives.

We’re looking for a pragmatic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can lead the full lifecycle of commercial engagements while advising on broader legal matters. Reporting to the Head of Legal as the second-in-command on the team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across the organization to support MNTN’s strategic objectives.

What you’ll do

  • Own the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and closing customer agreements, vendor contracts, partner agreements, NDAs, and data processing agreements
  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, Finance, and Leadership to structure deals, mitigate risk, and support revenue goals while maintaining practical, business-focused legal standards
  • Provide legal guidance regarding data privacy and security best practices and policies in light of evolving state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations
  • Work closely with the head of legal on other legal matters, including SEC reporting, corporate governance, litigation, intellectual property, and employment matters.
  • Lead contract negotiations with customers and vendors, balancing speed and commercial objectives with appropriate legal protections
  • Provide strategic legal guidance as new products, services, and partnerships are developed and brought to market
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve contracting processes, templates, and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on commercial, data privacy, and operational risk considerations

What success looks like

  • You’ve taken ownership of the commercial contracting lifecycle, independently and efficiently responding to contract support tickets and executing agreements efficiently while maintaining practical risk management standards.
  • Cross-functional teams view you as a proactive, solutions-oriented partner who helps accelerate deals and strategic initiatives.
  • Your negotiations balance speed and commercial objectives with appropriate legal protections and clear communication of risk.
  • You’ve identified and begun implementing improvements to templates or workflows that increase efficiency and support scalable growth.
  • You’re providing business-focused legal guidance on new products, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.

What you bring

  • 4+ years legal experience, at a leading law firm, or split between a law firm and in-house at a high-growth tech company, ideally within the software advertising space
  • High academic achievements from a leading undergraduate university and a top-tier law school
  • Strong business acumen and can approach complex problems and solve them
  • Creative - you approach every problem with a question, “What is the right answer for us?” not just, “What do other people do?”
  • An ownership mentality - you are a doer, you roll up your sleeves and get the job done, you are detail-oriented
