Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our global legal team.

Reporting to the Head of Legal in London, you will lead negotiations on complex, high-value and strategic client contracts, primarily within the UK while supporting transactions across Endava’s global footprint.

This role is ideally suited to a lawyer who began their career in private practice and has since gained experience in-house, and who enjoys working closely with commercial teams on sophisticated technology transactions.

You will partner closely with Sales leadership and senior stakeholders to structure transactions, balance risk with commercial objectives, and enable strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, outsourcing arrangements, SaaS and cloud services agreements, and technology licensing arrangements.
  • Act as legal lead on strategic and enterprise deals, advising on negotiation strategy, risk allocation, governance and approvals.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Procurement, Finance, Compliance and Security teams to align legal advice with commercial objectives and delivery models.
  • Provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders on legal and commercial risk, presenting structured options and recommendations.
  • Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks and guidance to support efficient and scalable contracting.
  • Contribute to the evolution of legal operations, including contract lifecycle management and responsible adoption of legal technology and AI tools.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the legal team where appropriate.

About You

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with approximately 6–10 years’ PQE.
  • Strong private practice training, ideally in commercial, technology or outsourcing work at a recognised law firm.
  • Subsequent in-house experience, ideally within a technology, IT services, consulting or digital business.
  • Proven experience negotiating complex technology and commercial contracts, particularly IT services, managed services, SaaS or digital transformation arrangements.
  • Strong understanding of key contracting risk areas including intellectual property, data protection, information security and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Commercially astute and pragmatic, with the confidence to advise senior stakeholders on risk appetite and strategic trade-offs.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment and managing multiple complex negotiations simultaneously.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to operate at the heart of strategic growth in a global technology services business. You will take ownership of complex enterprise deals, work closely with senior commercial leadership, and help shape how a modern legal function leverages technology and AI to deliver smarter commercial outcomes.
