Competition Law Associate — Wong & Partners (Baker McKenzie)
Wong & Partners is seeking a Competition Law Associate to join its growing competition and antitrust practice in Kuala Lumpur. The role involves advising clients on Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) investigations, merger assessments, and compliance with the Competition Act 2010.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on compliance with the Competition Act 2010 including anti-competitive agreements (Section 4) and abuse of dominant position (Section 10)
- Prepare and file merger notifications and submissions to the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) and the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM)
- Represent clients in MyCC investigations and leniency applications
- Conduct competition law compliance training and risk assessments for corporate clients
- Advise on sector-specific competition regulations in telecommunications (MCMC), energy (Energy Commission), and aviation (MAVCOM)
- Coordinate with Baker McKenzie's global antitrust team on multi-jurisdictional competition matters

Requirements
- Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya with 2-5 years PQE in competition law, regulatory, or commercial litigation
- Knowledge of the Competition Act 2010 and MyCC's guidelines and decisions
- Experience in regulatory submissions, investigations, or competition compliance is preferred
- LL.B. from a recognised university; CLP holder; LL.M. in competition law is an advantage
- Strong analytical and economic reasoning skills
- Excellent English drafting skills
- Interest in developing a specialist competition law practice
