Job Description
Atherstone & Cook, a Chambers-ranked firm, is hiring a Constitutional and Human Rights Lawyer. With Zimbabwe's evolving constitutional landscape and ongoing amendment discussions, this role involves challenging and defending constitutional matters in the Constitutional Court.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle constitutional litigation and judicial review applications
- Advise civil society organizations, media houses, and individuals on fundamental rights
- Research constitutional amendments and their impact on human rights
- Draft constitutional court applications and heads of argument
- Engage with regional human rights bodies (ACHPR, SADC Tribunal)
Requirements
- LLB degree, practising certificate with LSZ
- 3-5 years experience in constitutional, human rights, or public interest law
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Passion for human rights and rule of law
