Position Overview
Job Description
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, the country's largest mobile operator, seeks a Data Privacy and Regulatory Compliance Officer. With Zimbabwe's Data Protection Act creating new compliance requirements and POTRAZ regulatory oversight, this role is critical to ensuring Econet's legal and regulatory compliance across its mobile, fintech (EcoCash), and data services operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Zimbabwe's Data Protection Act and POTRAZ regulations
- Manage data privacy impact assessments for new products and services
- Handle regulatory filings, license renewals, and POTRAZ correspondence
- Advise on EcoCash and mobile money regulatory compliance (RBZ directives)
- Develop internal privacy policies and conduct staff training
Requirements
- LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification
- 3-5 years experience in data privacy, telecoms regulation, or compliance
- Knowledge of Zimbabwe's Data Protection Act, POTRAZ Act, and RBZ fintech guidelines
- CIPM, CIPP, or similar privacy certification is a plus
