Job Description

Dentons Canada LLP is seeking a Compliance Officer for its Calgary office. You will oversee the firm's internal compliance with Law Society of Alberta rules, anti-money laundering regulations, and client identification and verification requirements under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure firm-wide compliance with the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA)
  • Implement and monitor client identification and verification procedures as required by the Law Society of Alberta
  • Conduct internal file reviews and compliance audits across all practice groups
  • Develop and deliver training on anti-money laundering, conflict of interest, and ethical obligations
  • Liaise with the Law Society of Alberta on trust account audits and regulatory inquiries

Requirements

  • Called to the Bar in Alberta or Ontario
  • 3-6 years experience in legal compliance, risk management, or professional regulation
  • JD/LLB from a recognized law school
  • CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) designation an asset
  • Strong knowledge of law society rules and PCMLTFA requirements

Responsibilities
