Job Description
Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP is hiring an Associate for its Real Estate practice in Montreal. Given Quebec's unique civil law system, you will advise on commercial property transactions governed by the Civil Code of Quebec, including acquisitions, leasing, and development projects in the Greater Montreal Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial property acquisitions, dispositions, and developments under the Civil Code of Quebec
- Draft and negotiate commercial leases, offers to purchase, and hypothecary security documents
- Conduct title searches and review servitudes, emphyteutic leases, and land registry entries at the Quebec Land Registry
- Advise on municipal zoning, environmental assessments, and development permits under Quebec planning legislation
- Support REIT transactions and real estate fund structuring under Quebec securities regulations
Requirements
- Called to the Barreau du Quebec
- 3-5 years post-call experience in Quebec real estate law
- BCL or LLB from a recognized Quebec university
- Bilingual (English/French) required
- Strong understanding of Quebec civil law property concepts
