Job Description
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: You MUST have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD). In addition, at the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application, of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. On-line information is allowed as long as it shows that you are in "active" status. Basic Qualification Requirement: You must meet ALL of the following qualification requirements and provide documentation to support your qualifications. Education: Have a first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) that is accredited by the American Bar Association. Bar Membership: Active membership in good standing in the Bar or highest court of a state, or U.S. territory, U.S. commonwealth or District of Columbia; never been disciplined, sanctioned, or had fitness to practice law challenged by any bar or court or a state or territory of the U.S. or District of Columbia (Failure to provide documentation of bar membership and good standing will result in an ineligible rating.) Professional Experience: You must have professional experience in excess of two (2) years commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of this position or second professional law degree (L.L.M), plus one year of professional legal experience at GS-11 level. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of laws, regulations, precedents and procedures related to Federal Government contract law Ability to effectively interpret and apply law and recommend changes in legislation, policy, or regulations; Ability to research case law and Air Force and DoD regulations relating to legal issues Ability to communicate, both orally, and in writing; Ability to direct, coordinate, and review the concentrated efforts of teams of personnel from the legal, requisition, program management, engineering, logistics, and other career fields Ability to recognize and appropriately handle issues of precedent setting nature, sensitivity, or importance to agency goals, national and international security, or high public interest Skill in presentation of and opposition to evidence and arguments made in third party proceedings; Skill in writing sound and persuasive memoranda, briefs, reports, plans, and pleadings Skill in representing and advocating for the Air Force with Congressional delegates and pother personnel at all levels of the Federal Government. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
