HSE Legal Adviser

OQ SAOC is seeking an HSE Legal Adviser for its operations at the Sohar Industrial Port Area, Al Batinah North Governorate. This role ensures the company's health, safety, and environmental compliance across refinery and petrochemical operations under Omani environmental legislation and Royal Decrees.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with the Environment Protection and Pollution Control Law (Royal Decree 114/2001)
• Draft and review environmental impact assessments, permits, and waste management contracts
• Handle regulatory matters with the Environment Authority and Ministry of Labour (occupational safety)
• Advise on carbon emissions reporting and OQ's net-zero commitments under Oman Vision 2040
• Manage environmental incident investigations and regulatory enforcement responses

Requirements

• LLB from a recognised university; specialisation in Environmental, Energy, or HSE Law preferred
• 3-6 years PQE in environmental law, HSE compliance, or regulatory affairs
• Knowledge of Omani environmental legislation and international environmental standards
• Experience in oil and gas or heavy industry environments preferred
• Based in Sohar; English essential, Arabic advantageous
