Job Description
Intellectual Property Counsel — Content & Design Tech (Remote)
Canva is seeking an IP Counsel to join our legal team and advise on intellectual property matters across our design platform serving 170M+ users. This role is remote-friendly, available to candidates in Australia, NZ, US, or UK.
What You'll Do:
- Advise on copyright, trademark, and patent matters for Canva's design platform
- Manage IP portfolio including trademark registrations and enforcement
- Handle DMCA takedown requests and content licensing disputes
- Advise AI/ML teams on intellectual property implications of generative design tools
- Draft and negotiate content licensing agreements with stock media providers

Responsibilities
Manage global trademark portfolio and enforcement strategy. Advise product teams on IP implications of new features. Handle copyright disputes and DMCA processes. Negotiate content licensing agreements. Monitor IP developments in AI-generated content.
Requirements
JD or equivalent with IP specialization. 3-5 years in intellectual property law, ideally in tech or media. Experience with copyright, trademark prosecution, and IP portfolio management. Understanding of AI/ML intellectual property issues preferred. Strong analytical and communication skills for remote collaboration.
