Position Overview
Job Description
The Legal Assistant will assist and provide administrative support in all matters handled by the Labor Relations Department as related to Major League Baseball players and umpires, administration of league affairs, and other legal-support matters as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist LRD attorneys in all phases of grievance process under various Collective Bargaining Agreements, including:
- Providing administrative support in all phases of the grievance procedure
- Document organization, preparation, and production
- Conducting factual research and reviewing documents
- Preparing for and attending hearings
- Coordinating with vendors to ensure seamless run-of-show
- Preparing post-hearing briefing
- Tracking and helping drive completion of key obligations under Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Management and maintenance of internal databases
- Various other tasks and special projects as requested by LRD attorneys
- Managing group logistics and travel coordination
- Participate in planning and organizing of events
Qualifications and Skills
- College graduate
- Excellent writing, verbal communication and organizational skills
- Top academic credentials and references
- Ability to handle privileged, confidential, and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Web-based research
Salary Range: $57,500 - $70,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
