Legal Counsel – Regulatory Compliance at PKO Bank Polski
PKO Bank Polski, Poland's largest bank by assets and a cornerstone of the Polish financial system, is hiring a Legal Counsel for the Regulatory Compliance Department at our headquarters on ul. Puławska in Warsaw's Mokotów district. PKO BP serves over 11 million clients and is listed on the GPW as part of the WIG20 index.
About the Role
You will ensure the bank's compliance with the Prawo bankowe, Ustawa o nadzorze nad rynkiem finansowym (Financial Market Supervision Act), and regulations issued by the KNF and Narodowy Bank Polski (NBP). The role covers a broad spectrum of regulatory matters including prudential requirements, consumer protection under the Ustawa o ochronie konkurencji i konsumentów, and payment services regulation under Ustawa o usługach płatniczych (Payment Services Act implementing PSD2).
You will draft internal compliance policies, advise business units on regulatory implications of new products and services, and support the bank's interactions with supervisory authorities. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of law and banking regulation in Poland's most systemically important financial institution.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse regulatory changes affecting the bank's operations (KNF, NBP, EBA, ECB)
- Draft and update internal compliance policies and procedures in line with Prawo bankowe and KNF requirements
- Advise business units on regulatory aspects of new banking products and digital services
- Support the bank's regulatory reporting obligations to KNF and NBP
- Coordinate responses to KNF supervisory inquiries and on-site inspections
- Conduct internal compliance training for bank employees
Requirements
- Magister prawa with 3-5 years of experience in banking regulation or financial services compliance
- Qualification as radca prawny preferred (in-house counsel role)
- Strong knowledge of Prawo bankowe, KNF recommendations, and NBP regulations
- Familiarity with EU regulatory framework: CRD V/CRR II, PSD2, MiFID II
- Experience with compliance programme design and regulatory reporting
- Fluent Polish; good working English for EU regulatory matters
