Job Description

d.light Solar, a global leader in solar energy solutions for off-grid communities, seeks a Legal Officer for its East Africa operations based in Nairobi. The role involves supporting the company's legal needs across multiple markets including contract management, regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and corporate governance. This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers interested in the intersection of energy, technology, and financial inclusion.

Responsibilities

Provide legal support across d.light's East African operations. Draft and review commercial contracts, distribution agreements, and vendor agreements. Ensure compliance with consumer protection, data privacy, and telecommunications regulations. Support regulatory engagement across multiple East African markets. Handle dispute resolution and debt recovery matters. Advise on corporate governance and employment law matters.

Requirements

LLB degree from a recognized university. Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. Minimum 3 years post-admission experience, preferably in a technology or financial services company. Knowledge of consumer protection laws, data privacy regulations, and fintech regulatory frameworks. Experience with PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) business models is an advantage.
