We are seeking an experienced lawyer to help lead and scale our Global Legal Services team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will combine deep commercial contracting expertise with proven people leadership and legal operations acumen. You will help build and manage a high-performing team, optimize legal service delivery through process and technology, and serve as a trusted partner to global business and legal stakeholders across time zones.
Key Responsibilities
The Team Leader of the GLS will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the GLS in Bangalore. The key responsibilities will be as follows:
Operational Management - The Team Leader shall manage the day-to-day running of the Team, with all junior lawyers reporting directly to them. This includes setting up all necessary processes for the GLS team and liaising with Legal Operations to establish and refine KPIs. The role requires establishing governance cadence through monthly metric reviews and ensuring SLA adherence across in-scope processes such as NDAs and lower-complexity contracts.
Team Development and Engagement - The Team Leader is responsible for managing training and onboarding of new team members. They must develop and implement a plan to keep the Team engaged and motivated, and establish a back-up plan for any exits to ensure zero disruption.
Quality Assurance - The Team Leader shall track intake volume, cycle time by contract type, backlog/aging, customer satisfaction, and business value enabled.. They will work with the cross-region Steering Committee of senior lawyers to review quality insights monthly and facilitate mentoring of the team.
Reporting and Governance - The Team Leader is responsible for regular reporting on progress in work quality, and challenges once established, in accordance with agreed KPIs. Monthly reports to the leadership team based on agreed KPIs are required.
Escalation Management - The role involves dealing with questions escalated by the team and liaising with the relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
LL.B. degree from a recognized university; admission to practice in India.
9–12 years of post-qualification experience, including substantial experience in a multinational in-house legal team or leading law firm, with a strong focus on commercial contracts.
Demonstrated experience managing a Legal CoE or leading a legal function within a shared services environment, including people leadership of team members.
Advanced proficiency and experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, sales agreements, procurement agreements, rebate agreements, distribution agreements, SaaS agreements, and other agreement types.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable supporting senior executives in global time zones.
High degree of business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to balance risk with commercial outcomes in fast-paced, scaling environments.
Excellent written and spoken English; ability to produce clear, concise, and business-oriented advice and documentation.
