Job Description

Chapman Tripp is seeking a Senior Associate for its Construction & Infrastructure practice at 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington. Wellington is the centre of New Zealand's government infrastructure spending, and you will advise on major roading, water, and public building projects, including Three Waters reform, City Rail Link, and Waka Kotahi NZTA projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on major government infrastructure projects including PPPs, alliance contracts, and NZS 3910/3916 construction contracts
  • Draft and negotiate EPC, design-and-build, and construction management agreements for public and private sector clients
  • Handle construction disputes including adjudication under the Construction Contracts Act 2002, arbitration, and High Court proceedings
  • Advise on resource consents and designation processes under the Resource Management Act 1991 for infrastructure projects
  • Support procurement processes under the Government Procurement Rules for Waka Kotahi and local government clients

Requirements

  • Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate
  • 6-8 years PQE in construction, infrastructure, or projects at a leading firm
  • Knowledge of the Construction Contracts Act 2002, NZS 3910, and Government Procurement Rules
  • Experience with government clients or infrastructure PPPs preferred
