Job Description
Lane Neave is seeking an Associate for its Property team at its Christchurch headquarters. Christchurch's post-earthquake rebuild has created a unique property market with ongoing insurance, EQC, and remediation issues. You will advise on commercial and residential property transactions, earthquake-related claims, and subdivision development in one of New Zealand's fastest-growing cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial and residential property transactions under the Property Law Act 2007 and Land Transfer Act 2017
- Handle ongoing earthquake-related property claims including EQC Act 1993 disputes, insurance settlements, and remediation agreements
- Draft and negotiate agreements for sale and purchase, leases, and subdivision consents
- Advise on Canterbury-specific planning and building issues including Christchurch District Plan and CERA legacy matters
- Support property development projects from resource consent through to settlement
Requirements
- Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate
- 3-5 years PQE in property, real estate, or general practice
- Knowledge of the Property Law Act 2007, Unit Titles Act 2010, and Canterbury-specific regulations
- Earthquake claims experience valued but not essential
