Job Description

MinterEllison's Canberra office in the Parliamentary Triangle precinct is seeking a Senior Associate for its Government practice. Canberra is Australia's political capital and the centre of Commonwealth government legal work. You will advise federal departments and agencies on administrative law, procurement, grants, and legislative reform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise Commonwealth departments on administrative law, including judicial review under the ADJR Act and s75(v) of the Constitution
  • Handle Commonwealth procurement legal advice under the Commonwealth Procurement Rules
  • Draft and advise on legislation, regulations, and subordinate instruments
  • Support Parliamentary committees and government inquiries

Requirements

  • Admitted as a solicitor in the ACT (or eligible for admission); 5-8 years PQE in government, administrative, or public law
  • Experience advising Commonwealth or state government agencies
  • Knowledge of the PGPA Act, ADJR Act, and Freedom of Information Act 1982
  • Australian Government security clearance (or eligible)
