Job Description
Buddle Findlay is seeking an Associate for its Government Contracts & Procurement practice in Wellington. Buddle Findlay is one of New Zealand's leading government advisory firms, and Wellington is the centre of Crown procurement activity. You will advise government agencies on complex procurement processes, panel arrangements, and contract management for services, ICT, and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise government departments, Crown entities, and DHBs on procurement under the Government Procurement Rules (5th edition)
- Draft and negotiate government contracts including All-of-Government (AoG) panel agreements and syndicated contracts
- Handle procurement complaints and challenges, including MBIE supplier complaints process
- Advise on Public Finance Act 1989 obligations and Auditor-General procurement expectations
- Support PPP and infrastructure procurement including alliance and collaborative contracting models
Requirements
- Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate
- 3-5 years PQE in commercial, government, or procurement law
- Knowledge of the Government Procurement Rules and Public Finance Act 1989
- Experience advising government clients or working within a government legal team preferred
