BLC Robert & Associates, Mauritius's largest and highest-ranked law firm (Chambers Band 1, Legal 500 Tier 1), seeks a Senior Barrister to lead complex Global Business mandates from its Port Louis and Ebene Cybercity offices. Mauritius is the world's leading conduit for foreign direct investment into India and a premier gateway for investment into Africa, and BLC Robert sits at the apex of this ecosystem.

The Senior Barrister will structure Global Business Corporations (GBCs) under the Financial Services Act 2007, advise on the Mauritius-India Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and Mauritius's extensive treaty network, and engage with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) on licensing and regulatory matters. This role demands deep expertise in Mauritius's mixed legal system — navigating both the Code Civil Mauricien and common law principles — to serve multinational clients structuring investments through the Mauritius international financial centre.

• Lead Global Business Corporation (GBC) structuring mandates under the Financial Services Act 2007
• Advise multinational clients on the Mauritius-India DTAA and treaty-based investment structuring
• Engage with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) on licensing, compliance, and regulatory approvals
• Draft and negotiate cross-border investment agreements, shareholder agreements, and fund documentation
• Appear before the Supreme Court of Mauritius on corporate and regulatory matters
• Mentor junior Barristers and supervise Pupils in the Global Business practice group

• Barrister admitted by the Mauritius Bar Council with current practising certificate
• Minimum 8 years' post-admission experience in Global Business, corporate, and tax structuring
• Expert knowledge of the Financial Services Act 2007, Companies Act 2001, and Income Tax Act 1995
• Deep understanding of the Mauritius-India DTAA and Mauritius's bilateral investment treaty network
• Experience advising the Financial Services Commission (FSC) or appearing before the Supreme Court of Mauritius
• LL.B. from the University of Mauritius or equivalent; LL.M. in international tax or corporate law preferred
• Fluency in English and French (both legal languages of Mauritius)
