Job Description
Banque du Liban (BDL), the Central Bank of Lebanon established in 1963, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for its Legal Department. This critical role involves providing legal advice on banking regulation, monetary policy implementation, and financial sector oversight. The position offers the opportunity to shape Lebanon's financial regulatory framework.
Responsibilities
Provide legal opinions on banking regulatory matters and Central Bank circulars. Draft and review regulatory instruments and compliance guidelines. Advise on the legal aspects of monetary policy implementation. Represent BDL in legal proceedings and regulatory disputes. Coordinate with international financial institutions and regulatory bodies on compliance matters.
Requirements
Licence en Droit or LLM in banking or financial law. Minimum 7 years of experience in banking regulation or financial law. Deep knowledge of the Lebanese Code of Money and Credit, banking secrecy law, and BDL circulars. Fluency in Arabic and French required; English strongly preferred. Experience with international financial regulatory standards (Basel III).
