Job Description
Multimedia University of Kenya seeks a Senior Legal Officer to manage its legal department. The role involves providing comprehensive legal services to the university including contract management, regulatory compliance, employment law advisory, and institutional governance. The officer will also handle litigation matters, intellectual property issues, and provide guidance on university policies.
Responsibilities
Oversee the university's legal function and provide strategic legal advice to management. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements. Manage litigation and external counsel relationships. Advise on employment law matters, disciplinary proceedings, and HR policies. Handle intellectual property and research collaboration agreements. Support institutional governance and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
LLB degree from a recognized university. Masters degree in Law (LLM) is an added advantage. Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate. Minimum 5 years post-admission experience with at least 2 years in a senior legal role. Knowledge of employment law, institutional governance, and public procurement. CPS(K) qualification is an advantage.
