Discord is looking for an experienced Senior Paralegal, Litigation & Regulatory to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will support the Litigation and Regulatory teams across a broad range of matters, including commercial litigation, pre-litigation disputes, arbitrations, and regulatory investigations. Core responsibilities include matter intake and tracking in our matter management system, supporting attorneys and the eDiscovery lead on discovery requests and legal hold administration. You will also help us manage outside counsel relationships, maintain legal knowledge resources, and help build the processes and tools that allow our legal function to scale. You will work closely with Discord's attorneys, Legal Operations, eDiscovery Lead, Trust & Safety, Data Science, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.

What you'll be doing

  • Project manage all active litigation and regulatory matters, ensuring execution and response within deadline 
  • Review new actual and threatened litigation matters and draft summaries to counsel providing information such as the nature of the case, causes of action alleged, and preliminary recommendations 
  • Implement and maintain matters in our matter management system LawVu
  • Support the eDiscovery Lead in administering legal holds, including custodian tracking and compliance follow-up
  • Liaise among outside counsel, Legal team, and internal clients to translate requests, conduct fact-finding, and retrieve relevant information or documents 
  • Identifying and coordinating with potential declarants across technical and business teams, and preparing declarations and supporting exhibits for litigation filings
  • Working with cross-functional stakeholders, drive the development of playbooks, tools, systems, and processes that enable automation, scale, and optionality
  • Create and maintain a legal knowledge management system, pulled from legal databases, news sources, and work product (such as memos, briefs, or emails)
  • Facilitate the process for sourcing, selecting, and managing external service providers, including managing outside counsel actual spend against budget
  • Mentor and train junior team members, and design and deliver client training

What you should have

  • 10+ years litigation paralegal experience, including prior experience at a consumer-facing technology company
  • Experience with legal hold systems, matter management software, eDiscovery software, and collecting supporting documentation in collaboration with our lawyers and eDiscovery lead
  • Extensive experience with US commercial litigation/arbitration processes, from service of process to appeal/settlement
  • Experience prioritizing and triaging a high volume of unrelated matters 
  • Ability to break down complex projects into discrete components and to work collaboratively and strategically at all levels of the organization in order to meet external deadlines
  • Ability to develop processes and implement and operate tools that will function at scale and preparing and delivering regular reports to attorneys and leadership on litigation case status, matter volume, and key metrics and trends
  • Curiosity and ability to jump into less familiar areas and learn while doing
  • Expert relationship builder with an attitude of collaboration, flexibility, empathy, a growth-mindset, kindness, and being open and humble

Nice to Have 

  • You are familiar with Discord and the video game and/or online communication industry
  • Experience with managing class actions, multidistrict litigation, and/or mass arbitration
  • Experience with international dispute resolution frameworks, such as the DSA or other similar statutes 
  • Experience with responding to federal and state regulatory investigations
  • Familiarity with global data privacy and security principles


The US base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 to $202,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level.
