Okta is searching for a Foreign Compliance and Reporting Tax Manager to join Okta’s Global Tax Compliance and Reporting Team. The manager will be pivotal in the success of Okta’s income tax compliance and reporting obligations.  The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated with strong organizational, project management, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

The role is based in Dublin, Ireland and will report to the US Sr. Manager overseeing Okta’s global tax operations. The role is expected to be in the Okta offices in Dublin 1-2 days per week. 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of the company’s EMEA income tax compliance and reporting obligations and assist team with APAC and LATAM income tax compliance and reporting
  • Review income tax returns and statutory tax provisions prepared by service providers; occasionally prepare workpapers to support compliance and reporting
  • Prepare and/or review tax payment calculations and facilitate making payments
  • Support the successful resolution of local country income tax audits by defending filed tax positions and ensuring all information requests are met with high-quality, technically sound documentation
  • Assist with analyzing impacts of foreign income tax laws
  • Assist with establishing processes related to new tax regimes (such as Pillar Two) or global expansion into new jurisdictions
  • Assist with other projects including responding to taxing authority correspondence, preparing tax department budgets, reviewing engagement letters, reviewing invoices, managing income tax withholding payments and form filings, and other ad hoc projects as required
  • Assist with Tax process changes including implementation of tax technology tools (Alteryx, NotebookLM, AI, RPA, etc.)
  • Support the calculation of the company’s quarterly and annual US GAAP income tax provision and cash tax forecasts, including return-to-provision calculations, payable proofs, cash tax forecasts, and other projects
  • Liaise with Statutory Reporting, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Payroll, and other teams for completion of duties
  • Automate and streamline our tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Tax modeling and other special projects 
  • Diligence and tax accounting related to acquisitions and other corporate reorganizations
  • Resolving tax controversy matters

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Being a self-starter, detail oriented, and managing complex, business-critical projects and workflows involving multiple stakeholders (Legal, Treasury, HR, Tax Advisors, Sales)
  • Staying well-informed on tax policy matters
  • Being a strategic thinker who can innovate in a dynamic and evolving business
  • Building strong relationships within Tax and across the organization by communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, law, or related field
  • 5+ years of combined public accounting and/or industry experience specializing in income tax
  • 1-2 years foreign income tax compliance and reporting experience at a publicly traded multinational corporation (experience with EMEA jurisdictions preferred)
  • 1 year of experience independently managing a tax process including managing direct reports and/or service providers
  • Strong understanding of income tax compliance and statutory reporting concepts and cycles
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Google workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Master’s in Taxation
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience
  • Tech/SaaS experience
  • Experience with Alteryx, Asana, and OneSource Tax Provision softwares
