Corporate Legal Internship — John Keells Holdings (Galle)

John Keells Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka's largest listed conglomerate, offers a 6-month paid internship attached to its Leisure sector (Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts) legal operations based in Galle — Sri Lanka's premier southern tourist hub and UNESCO World Heritage city. This internship provides exposure to corporate legal practice in the tourism and hospitality sector.

The intern will assist the leisure sector legal team with hotel management agreements, tourism licensing, land leasing documentation, and employment law compliance for southern coast resort properties. JKH's internship programme offers a unique blend of corporate conglomerate experience and tourism-sector legal work, with access to the District Court of Galle. This internship may be used to fulfil the mandatory 6-month BASL apprenticeship requirement.

• Review and draft basic commercial contracts, NDAs, and service agreements
• Assist with corporate governance compliance and board documentation for subsidiaries
• Research legal issues across multiple business verticals (tourism, property, FMCG, IT)
• Support due diligence for acquisitions and new business ventures
• Attend legal team meetings and cross-functional business reviews
• Maintain the legal department's contract database and compliance tracking systems

• LL.B. from a recognised Sri Lankan university or Sri Lanka Law College (final year or graduate)
• Eligible for the mandatory 6-month BASL apprenticeship or seeking corporate law exposure
• Strong interest in corporate, commercial, and in-house legal practice
• Good academic record in corporate law and contract law
• English fluency required; Sinhala proficiency advantageous
• Ability to work across multiple business sectors and with diverse teams
• Commitment to the full 6-month internship period
