Internship Description
iGaming & Technology Law Intern — Ganado Advocates
Ganado Advocates offers a structured legal internship (warranted advocate training placement) in its iGaming and Technology Law department in Valletta. This internship is designed for LL.D. students and recent graduates pursuing their warrant — providing hands-on exposure to Malta's globally significant iGaming regulatory practice, including MGA licence applications, VFA Act advisory, and gaming operator compliance work.
The intern will work alongside experienced advocates on live mandates, attend MGA and MFSA regulatory meetings, and gain practical experience in the practice area that defines Malta's legal market internationally. This placement counts toward the warranted advocate training requirements under the Code of Organisation and Civil Procedure.
Responsibilities
- Assist with MGA licence application preparation and supporting documentation
- Research gaming regulatory developments in Malta and internationally
- Draft memoranda on VFA Act, ITAS Act, and fintech regulatory matters
- Attend MGA and MFSA meetings alongside senior advocates
- Support due diligence and compliance reviews for gaming clients
- Assist with drafting gaming operator agreements and regulatory correspondence
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed the Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) programme at the University of Malta
- Interest in iGaming regulation, technology law, and digital economy legal practice
- Basic understanding of the Gaming Act (Cap. 583) and Malta's gaming regulatory framework
- Strong research and legal writing skills in English
- Knowledge of Maltese required for domestic regulatory proceedings
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
