Who You Will Work With:
The Business Information Security Office falls under the Infrastructure and Operations Business unit (I&O) - I&O is considered as one of the largest business units under the CTO office. The intern will directly be reporting into the Business Information Security Officer and will assist the BISO by participating in all activities of the group, which covers Operational/Information Security, Privacy, IT Compliance, Audit and Assessments, Risk Management, and Security Awareness Training. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of teams across Interac, supporting the critical infrastructure that Canadians rely on each day.
What You Will Do:
- Promoting information security awareness within Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) teams and other key business units
- Conducting analysis and reporting on operational and information security risks within Infrastructure and Operations (I&O)
- Reporting and monitoring of high value metrics for: risk mitigation, IT controls, and exception filings using internal tools. Escalating any security, privacy incidents as appropriate
- Supporting the team in creating Monthly Operational Security reports for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Executive Committee (ExCo)
- Engaging with teams to capture and assess new risks which will feed into the IT Risk Register owned by the BISO office
- Preparing teams for various audit and assessment related activities to ensure compliance
What You Bring:
- Currently completing an undergraduate degree from a creditable Canadian institution with a focus on Computer Science, Information or Cyber Security, Information Business Systems, or someone who understand processes or Information Assurance (or a related discipline)
- Experience in supporting risk reporting activities. You contribute to ongoing efforts by analyzing data, generating insightful reports, and assisting in the assessment of risk factors
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You effectively promote information security awareness and articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
- Eagerness to learn new concepts and technologies, with a drive to stay updated with industry trends and advancements
- Have strong technical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
- You demonstrate proficiency in managing complex tasks and maintaining high standards of accuracy
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (formula writing, CSV support, pivot tables), PowerPoint and Visio
Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:
Experience with Power BI

The hourly pay range for this position is $23 to $25, and the internship term runs from September to December 2026. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge. An internship opportunity at Interac also features:
