Judicial Internship Programme — DIFC Courts
The DIFC Courts offer a prestigious unpaid judicial internship programme for outstanding law students. This programme provides a unique opportunity to observe the workings of an independent common law court within a civil law jurisdiction.
Programme Details
- Duration: 6-8 weeks (multiple intakes throughout 2026)
- Compensation: Unpaid (academic credit may be arranged with your university)
- Status: Unpaid internship; no employment relationship is created
What You Will Do
- Observe hearings in the Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal
- Assist the Registrar's office with case management and filing processes
- Conduct legal research on DIFC Court jurisprudence and comparative common law topics
- Attend lectures and seminars by DIFC Court judges and visiting legal scholars
- Draft case summaries and research notes for the DIFC Courts knowledge base
Academic Credit
The DIFC Courts will provide a letter of completion and work with your university to arrange academic credit where applicable. This internship is highly regarded by employers across the UAE legal sector.

Requirements
- Enrolled in an LLB, JD, or LLM programme at a recognised university
- Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in common law, dispute resolution, or judicial systems
- Excellent English language skills (all DIFC Courts proceedings are in English)
- Ability to commit to full-time attendance for 6-8 weeks
- Applications from international law students are welcome — visa sponsorship is not provided
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding court proceedings
