Internship Description
ANZ Bank New Zealand offers a paid 12-week legal internship in its Banking Compliance team in Auckland. ANZ NZ is one of New Zealand's Big Four banks, and this internship provides hands-on exposure to regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, and consumer credit law in a major in-house legal department.
Programme Details
- Duration: 12 weeks (November 2026 - February 2027)
- Compensation: Paid — approximately NZ$1,000/week
- Eligibility: 2nd or 3rd year LLB students at a New Zealand university
What You Will Do
- Assist the compliance team with AML/CFT Act 2009 compliance reviews and policy updates
- Research CCCFA 2003 responsible lending obligations and RBNZ prudential requirements
- Review internal policies and procedures for regulatory alignment
- Attend compliance training sessions and stakeholder meetings
- Present a research project to the General Counsel at programme conclusion
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of LLB at a New Zealand university
- Interest in banking law, financial regulation, or compliance
- Strong analytical and research skills
