Legal Intern – Compliance at PKO Bank Polski
PKO Bank Polski, Poland's largest banking group, offers a legal internship in the Compliance Department at our headquarters on ul. Puławska in Warsaw's Mokotów district. This programme provides law students with practical experience in banking compliance at a systemically important financial institution.
About the Internship
Over 3-6 months, you will support the compliance team in monitoring regulatory requirements under Prawo bankowe, Ustawa o przeciwdziałaniu praniu pieniędzy oraz finansowaniu terroryzmu (AML/CFT Act), and KNF recommendations. Tasks include assisting with compliance monitoring, reviewing internal policies, supporting AML/KYC processes, and conducting regulatory research.
You will gain hands-on experience in how Poland's largest bank manages regulatory compliance, including interactions with the KNF, GIIF, and NBP. PKO BP's compliance department is one of the largest in Poland, offering excellent training and mentorship opportunities. Strong performers are invited to apply for permanent legal counsel positions.
Duration & Compensation
This is a paid internship lasting 3-6 months with flexible start dates. Full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days per week). PKO BP provides a competitive stipend and covers commuting costs.
Responsibilities
- Support the compliance team in monitoring adherence to Prawo bankowe and KNF requirements
- Assist with AML/KYC procedures including client due diligence reviews
- Conduct regulatory research on banking compliance matters
- Help review and update internal compliance policies and procedures
- Assist with preparation of compliance reports and management information
- Attend compliance training sessions and team meetings
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in 4th or 5th year of magister prawa studies
- Interest in banking law, regulatory compliance, or financial crime
- Basic knowledge of Prawo bankowe and AML/CFT regulations
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail
- Fluent Polish; good English for international regulatory standards
- Available for minimum 3 months, at least 4 days per week
