Legal Intern — Islamic Banking at BIBD

BIBD is offering a paid 3-month internship in its Legal & Compliance Department in Bandar Seri Begawan. This internship provides hands-on experience in Islamic banking documentation, Syariah compliance processes, and regulatory affairs at Brunei's largest Islamic bank.

What You Will Learn

• Assist in reviewing and processing Islamic banking facility documentation
• Learn about Syariah-compliant product structures including murabahah, ijarah, and musharakah
• Support compliance monitoring activities including AML/CTF processes
• Attend internal training sessions on Islamic banking and regulatory requirements
• Assist with legal filing, document management, and administrative tasks
• Gain exposure to the Islamic Banking Order 2008 and BDCB regulatory framework

Duration: 3 months (paid internship — BND 800/month)

• Support the legal and compliance team on Islamic banking documentation
• Assist with regulatory filings and compliance monitoring
• Attend internal training and team meetings

• Currently enrolled in a law, Syariah law, or Islamic finance degree programme at UBD, UNISSA, or equivalent
• Interest in Islamic banking and financial services
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Fluent in English and Malay
