Internship Description

Legal Intern – M&A at CMS Poland

CMS Poland offers a structured legal internship (staż/praktyka) within the M&A team at our Warsaw office in the Eurocentrum Office Complex on Al. Jerozolimskie. This internship is designed for law students in their 4th or 5th year of studies who are considering a career in corporate transactional law.

About the Internship

Over 3-6 months, you will gain practical experience in mergers and acquisitions, working alongside associates and partners on live transactions. Tasks include assisting with legal due diligence reviews, drafting preliminary corporate documents under the Kodeks spółek handlowych, preparing transaction checklists, and conducting legal research on the Kodeks cywilny and commercial regulations.

CMS provides a dedicated mentor, structured feedback sessions, and exposure to CMS Academy training events. Top-performing interns are regularly offered positions as junior associates or aplikanci upon graduation.

Duration & Compensation

This is a paid internship lasting 3-6 months. Start dates are flexible (rolling admissions), with particular demand for summer (June-August) and autumn (October-December) intakes. Working hours: full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week) to accommodate academic commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal due diligence on M&A transactions (corporate, contracts, regulatory)
  • Draft preliminary corporate documents and checklists under supervision
  • Conduct legal research on company law, commercial contracts, and regulatory issues
  • Support the team with KRS searches and corporate registry verifications
  • Attend internal training sessions and CMS Academy events
  • Prepare summaries and memos for senior team members

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in 4th or 5th year of magister prawa studies at a recognised Polish university
  • Strong academic record, particularly in company law and civil law
  • Basic knowledge of the Kodeks spółek handlowych and Kodeks cywilny
  • Good English (B2+); German appreciated within CMS network
  • Attention to detail and eagerness to learn transactional work
  • Available for minimum 3 months, at least 3 days per week
