Internship Description
Baker McKenzie's Caracas office is offering a legal internship in its International Trade & Sanctions practice. This internship provides exposure to one of the most dynamic areas of legal practice in Venezuela, covering sanctions compliance, export controls, and international trade regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Research OFAC, EU, and Canadian sanctions regulations applicable to Venezuelan entities
- Assist with sanctions screening and risk assessment documentation
- Draft research memoranda on trade compliance and sanctions developments
- Support the team with compliance policy reviews and updates
- Attend internal seminars on international trade and sanctions law
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with sanctions research and compliance tasks
- Prepare summaries of regulatory developments
- Participate in the firm's global internship training programme
- Attend client seminars and networking events
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in final two years of law school (Derecho) at a Venezuelan university
- Interest in international trade, sanctions, or public international law
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Knowledge of basic international law concepts
