Ambatovy offers a paid stage in mining operations law for final-year law students seeking hands-on experience in one of the world's largest mining operations. This 6-month stage at Ambatovy's Toamasina office complex provides unmatched exposure to mining law, environmental compliance, community engagement, and corporate legal operations in the extractive industries sector.
Stagiaires at Ambatovy benefit from a structured program that includes site visits to the mine in Moramanga, the slurry pipeline, and the processing plant near Toamasina. You will work on real legal matters involving mining permits, environmental compliance, and community agreements while developing specialized expertise that is highly sought after in Madagascar's growing mining legal market.
Responsibilities
- Assist the legal team with mining permit documentation and regulatory filings
- Conduct research on the Code Minier and environmental regulations
- Support community development agreement documentation
- Participate in site visits to mine operations and community engagement activities
- Help maintain the legal department's contract management database
- Prepare legal research summaries and regulatory update reports
Requirements
- Final-year Master's student in law from the University of Antananarivo, University of Toamasina, or equivalent
- Strong interest in mining law, environmental law, or corporate law
- Strong academic record and demonstrated analytical abilities
- Fluency in French and Malagasy; English proficiency strongly preferred
- Willingness to be based in Toamasina for the stage duration
- Available for a 6-month full-time commitment
