Internship Description
Summer Associate Program — Kim & Chang
Kim & Chang invites applications for its prestigious Summer Associate Program at 39 Sajik-ro 8-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. As Korea's largest law firm, Kim & Chang's summer program offers 법학전문대학원 (law school) students a paid, immersive experience working alongside attorneys on Korea's most significant transactions, disputes, and regulatory matters.
Program Details
- Duration: 6-8 weeks (June – August)
- Compensation: Paid — competitive monthly stipend plus meals and transportation allowance
- Eligibility: 2nd or 3rd year 법학전문대학원 students with outstanding academic records
What You Will Do
- Rotate through 2-3 practice groups including Corporate/M&A, Litigation, Tax, IP, and International Arbitration
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on Korean 상법 (Commercial Act), 독점규제법, and other statutory areas
- Attend client meetings, negotiations, and court hearings alongside senior attorneys
- Participate in firm-wide training sessions, social events, and mentorship programmes
- Receive mid-programme and end-of-programme evaluations with a view toward full-time offers
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of an accredited Korean 법학전문대학원
- Strong academic record (top 20% of class preferred)
- Demonstrated interest in transactional law, litigation, or regulatory practice
- English proficiency (TOEFL 100+ or TEPS 500+); study abroad experience is a plus
