Position Overview
Job Description
Brigard Urrutia's Mining & Natural Resources practice, one of the strongest in Colombia, seeks a mid-level associate to advise on mining concessions, environmental licensing, and regulatory matters before the Agencia Nacional de Minería (ANM) and the Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (ANLA).
The role involves working on gold, coal, emerald, and copper mining projects across Colombia's key mining departments. The associate will draft and negotiate concession contracts, joint venture agreements, and royalty arrangements while ensuring compliance with the Código de Minas (Ley 685 de 2001) and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Advising mining companies on concession applications, renewals, and transfers before the ANM
- Drafting joint venture and royalty agreements for mining projects
- Coordinating environmental impact assessments and licensing before ANLA
- Conducting due diligence on mining title portfolios for M&A transactions
- Representing clients in administrative proceedings before mining and environmental authorities
Requirements
- Título de Abogado and active Tarjeta Profesional
- 3-6 years of experience in mining, energy, or environmental law
- Knowledge of the Código de Minas (Ley 685 de 2001) and environmental licensing regime
- Experience working with the ANM, ANLA, or regional corporaciones autónomas
- English proficiency for international mining client mandates
