Abogado Senior — Energía, Petróleo y Minería

Dentons Paz Horowitz, part of the world's largest law firm, seeks a Senior Energy, Oil & Gas, and Mining Lawyer for its Quito office. Ecuador's extractive industries are governed by the Ley de Hidrocarburos and the Ley de Minería, with contracts administered by the Ministerio de Energía y Recursos Naturales No Renovables.

The role involves advising international oil companies, mining operators, and state entities on exploration and production contracts, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance in one of Latin America's most resource-rich jurisdictions.

• Advising on oil & gas exploration and production contracts with the Ecuadorian state
• Handling mining concession applications and environmental impact assessments
• Representing clients before MERNNR, ARCOM, and the Agencia de Regulación y Control de Energía
• Structuring joint ventures and farm-in agreements for extractive projects
• Managing regulatory compliance for environmental and community consultation requirements

• Título de Abogado from a recognised Ecuadorian university
• Registered with the Foro de Abogados del Ecuador
• 8-12 years of experience in energy, oil & gas, or mining law
• Expert knowledge of the Ley de Hidrocarburos, Ley de Minería, and related regulations
• Experience with EP Petroecuador, MERNNR, and ARCOM proceedings
• Fluent English for international client mandates
• LL.M. in Energy Law or Natural Resources Law preferred
