Job Description
Dentons Paz Horowitz seeks an Associate for its International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution practice. Ecuador has a significant arbitration landscape, governed by the Ley de Arbitraje y Mediación, and the country has been party to numerous investment arbitrations under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules.
The role involves representing clients in commercial and investment arbitrations, handling enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under the New York Convention, and advising on bilateral investment treaty claims. You will leverage Dentons' global arbitration platform.
Responsibilities
- Representing clients in international commercial and investment arbitrations
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and legal memoranda in English and Spanish
- Conducting legal research on BIT protections and customary international law
- Assisting with enforcement of foreign arbitral awards before Ecuadorian courts
- Supporting the team on investor-state disputes involving Ecuador
Requirements
- Título de Abogado from a recognised Ecuadorian university
- 3-6 years of experience in arbitration, litigation, or dispute resolution
- Strong knowledge of the Ley de Arbitraje y Mediación and Ecuador's arbitration framework
- Experience with ICC, ICSID, or UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings
- Fluent English (essential for international arbitration work)
- LL.M. in International Arbitration or International Law preferred
