Job Description
Arias Guatemala is seeking a Senior Associate for its Banking & Finance practice in Guatemala City. You will advise local and international financial institutions on loan structuring, project finance, and compliance with Superintendencia de Bancos (SIB) regulations and the Ley de Bancos y Grupos Financieros.
Key Responsibilities
- Structure and draft syndicated loan facilities, secured lending, and trade finance documentation
- Advise on compliance with SIB regulations and Junta Monetaria resolutions
- Represent clients before the Banco de Guatemala and SIB on regulatory matters
- Conduct due diligence on Guatemalan corporate borrowers and financial entities
- Coordinate cross-border financing transactions with Central American counterparts
Responsibilities
- Lead deal execution on project finance and structured lending transactions
- Mentor junior associates on banking regulatory matters
- Develop client relationships with Guatemalan banks and financial groups
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership on Central American finance
Requirements
- Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas y Sociales from a recognised Guatemalan university (URL, USAC, or UFM preferred)
- Colegiado activo with the Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala
- 6-8 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law
- Fluent in Spanish and English (bilingual drafting essential)
- Strong knowledge of the Ley de Bancos y Grupos Financieros and SIB normativa
