Job Description
Noboa, Peña & Torres, a leading Guayaquil-based firm, seeks a Senior Maritime & International Trade Lawyer. Guayaquil is Ecuador's principal port city, and the firm handles major shipping, logistics, and trade matters for exporters of bananas, shrimp, cocoa, and other commodities.
The role involves advising on maritime law (governed by the Código de Comercio and international conventions), customs procedures under SENAE (Servicio Nacional de Aduana del Ecuador), and international trade agreements including the EU-Ecuador trade agreement.
Responsibilities
- Advising shipping companies, exporters, and logistics operators on maritime law matters
- Handling customs disputes and classification appeals before SENAE
- Structuring import/export operations for compliance with COPCI and trade agreements
- Representing clients in maritime disputes before the Tribunal de lo Contencioso Administrativo
- Advising on port concessions and maritime transport regulations
Requirements
- Título de Abogado from a recognised Ecuadorian university
- Registered with the Foro de Abogados del Ecuador
- 7-10 years of experience in maritime law, international trade, or customs
- Expert knowledge of Ecuador's maritime regulations and SENAE customs procedures
- Experience with the EU-Ecuador trade agreement and WTO frameworks
- Fluent English for international shipping and trade matters
