Associado – Direito Ambiental
Machado Meyer Advogados is looking for a mid-level environmental law associate for its Rio de Janeiro office. The role involves advising on environmental licensing, ESG compliance, and sustainability regulations for energy, mining, and infrastructure clients.
Responsibilities
- Advise on environmental licensing processes with IBAMA, state environmental agencies, and municipal authorities
- Conduct environmental due diligence for M&A transactions, infrastructure concessions, and project finance
- Advise on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance, sustainability reporting, and green bond frameworks
- Represent clients in administrative proceedings before environmental agencies and defend against environmental fines (autos de infração)
- Advise on the National Policy on Climate Change (Lei 12.187/2009), Forest Code (Lei 12.651/2012), and carbon credit regulation
Requirements
- Bacharel em Direito; OAB registration active
- 4–7 years' experience in environmental law, ESG, or sustainability regulation
- Knowledge of IBAMA licensing, Forest Code, and environmental impact assessment (EIA/RIMA) procedures
- Advanced English; experience with international ESG standards (GRI, TCFD) preferred
