Job Description
Associate — Intellectual Property at Katende Ssempebwa & Company Advocates
KATS is recruiting an Associate for its Intellectual Property practice. The firm handles trademark registrations, patent applications, copyright matters, and IP enforcement for local and international clients through its membership in LEXAfrica.

Responsibilities
- Handle trademark and patent applications at URSB
- Advise clients on IP protection strategies
- Conduct IP due diligence for M&A transactions
- Draft licensing and assignment agreements
- Handle IP infringement disputes and enforcement actions
- Prepare opposition and cancellation proceedings
- Liaise with ARIPO for regional IP filings
Requirements
- LLB degree from a recognized university
- Diploma in Legal Practice from LDC
- Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
- 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property law
- Knowledge of the Trademarks Act, Patents Act, and Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act
- Experience with ARIPO and WIPO filing systems is an advantage
